Vivian Yang (pronounced "young") is a novelist, TV commentator, and public speaker. She is a winner in the WNYC-New York Public Radio Lopate Essay Contest. A literary grant and fellowship recipient of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council respectively, Vivian holds an M.A. from the Hugh Downs School at Arizona State University, and studied Creative Writing at Columbia University and at the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. A native of Shanghai, China where she taught English and journalism in her undergraduate alma mater Shanghai International Studies University, she now lives with her young family in New York City and travels to Greater China and Japan regularly.
